We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to manage and/or assist in managing multiple projects initiated from all business functional areas at Tarleton. This role will involve planning and executing project efforts related to the campus initiatives and contribute to the creation and evolution of the Program Management Office and its offerings.
The successful candidate will guide project teams through good project management processes and practices from project pre-inception through closure with effective transition to support. The ideal individual will manage coordinated, integrated releases of functionality as necessary, facilitate the effective management of project risk, provide project and program management support for a variety of initiatives. The ideal candidate will also help build enduring and effective relationships with all stakeholders and help position Tarleton to execute solutions that support the universityâ™s strategic plan.
$50,000-$55,000; Salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications
Responsibilities: 40% Coordinates project activities with both internal and external Tarleton partners and contractor. Develops and implements plans to communicate and explains project methodology and processes to interested groups and team members. Develops criteria for evaluating programs, proposals, and other pertinent information related to project assignments. May plan, assign, coordinate, and/or supervise the work of others. Compiles and distributes project information, project status reports, and project budget expenditures.
35% Directs, manages, develops, oversees, and evaluates projects using accepted project management methodologies. Monitors and manages project cost to ensure project is completed within budget. Monitors and manages project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract or specifications. Develops project budgets, schedules, work plans, resources requirements, and cost estimates and projections. Initiates projects, obtaining authorization and commitment, and demonstrating business need and project feasibility.
20% Reviews and recommends proposals and bids to management. Identifies potential project risks and difficulties and design strategies to mitigate or avoid them. Creates documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan.
5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelorâ™s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience; One year of experience may substitute for one year of education; 5 years of information technology consulting and project management experience (which includes additional specific technical skills based on area of required expertise)
Experience using project management software to manage projects and experience developing and managing project budgets. Demonstrated organizational skills leading to efficient project management and decision making. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated expertise in presenting, and delivering information in a concise and understandable manner. Demonstrated expertise in using verbal and written communication.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Masterâ™s degree or higher; 2 or more years of experience working on related projects in a university environment. PMI certification
