Rider University invites applications for the Director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics who will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Institute, including: planning its research agenda; developing and promoting programs for students and the general public; branding and marketing Institute activities; engaging University alumni/ae and community groups, corporate neighbors, associations, etc. interested in politics and government; acting as a media contact by providing expert analysis of New Jersey politics; coordinating with University Communications in providing expert commentators on issues of politics and public policy; and disseminating polling and other data provided by the Department of Political Science. Further, the Director will work directly with students in a mentoring role, providing counsel on engaged learning opportunities, resume writing, networking, skills development, internships, and job placement. The Director will seek to raise additional funds to augment support from the University for Institute programming and intern scholarships for Rider students. In addition, the Director will work with faculty in the Department of Political Science to develop polling data and other material for dissemination to the news media. The Director may teach classes for appropriate adjunct compensation if requested to do so by the Department of Political Science and/or the Honors Program, as suitable for the Director's schedule.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Distinguished scholar or practitioner; currently or potentially a public intellectual. Deep understanding of the subject matter with a dedication to providing students with connected learning opportunities such as internships, seminars, speakers, and participation in research projects. Connections that will enable the Institute to collaborate with local, regional, and (ideally) national governmental, NGO, corporate, and communications organizations are highly desirable.
