The Optical Society (OSA) is recruiting for a 2018 Spring Government Relations Intern to assist in our External Relations Department.
Research ongoing policy issues related to science, technology and government
Assist with preparation for Congressional Visits Day including compiling bios of members of Congress, assist with background materials, assist with scheduling appointments for Hill visits, assist the training session setup, putting together folders, and other tasks as assigned.
Watch/attend briefings and hearings and write summaries for staff and for Washington Updates
Assist with preparing the Washington Updates newsletters including writing content
As needed, process invoices
Make updates to OSA GR web sites including IPAC, NPI and Washington Updates
Draft “write your rep” letters
Assist with preparation for public policy related meetings/events and for events in DC, help with onsite needs of the event
Assist with preparation for the Congressional Fellowship Interview Weekend including putting together notebooks for the selection committee
Other government relations tasks as assigned
Undergraduate students pursuing a BA or BS in political science, public policy, public administration and business, or a related program.
