Posting Summary: The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (A&S) seeks a Director of Strategic Analysis and Decision Support. Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean, the Director of Strategic Analysis and Decision Support is responsible for developing, leading, and executing a program of sophisticated analytics to advance the strategic goals of A&S. This position will serve as a strategic partner to the Senior Associate Dean and other executive leaders in the Dean's Office, providing evidence-based insights to senior leadership, and marshalling cross-functional data in innovative ways to support the highest levels of planning. This position will play a vital role as an expert resource to academic programs in A&S on data analysis and assessment.
The Director will work with academic and administrative leadership to identify, collect, and analyze key measures of performance and other critical data across multiple domains, perform in-depth analyses of trends, and develop variable-dependent future scenarios and forecasts. The incumbent will create reports, graphics, and presentations for review by A&S leadership and for incorporation into A&S planning and communication materials. The Director will also play a leading role in efforts within A&S and at the University level to improve practices and infrastructure for data requirements, collection, storage, and use. Other key responsibilities include:
-Carry out advanced, mission-driven analysis, crossing multiple data types and systems, to provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations to A&S leadership. -Serve as a member of the A&S Director team, consisting of the Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Director of Human Resources, the Director of IT, and the Director of Space Planning and Management, working collaboratively to create a more robust culture and infrastructure for data-informed academic and administrative planning. -Work with A&S academic leadership to develop and track diverse, discipline-dependent indicators of research performance and forecast impact of strategic investments in research. -Maintain strategic data on faculty recruitment, including information relating to costs, yield rates by rank and field, and other key dimensions to enable more accurate financial forecasting and academic planning. -Analyze enrollment data to predict instructional needs, understand emerging enrollment trends, and forecast the relevant impact of proposed or anticipated curricular changes. -Explore opportunities to create dashboards and other high-level reporting tools to drive more effective, data-informed decision-making across A&S. -Conduct benchmarking/comparative studies with peer and aspirant academic programs. -In collaboration with other Directors in the Dean's Office, use reports and analysis to improve the integrity and reliability of data, recommending process-related corrections to eliminate root causes. -Work with colleagues in A&S, and represent the School at the University level, on matters relating to data governance, stewardship, and quality. Improve practices and enhance infrastructure for the strategic use of data. -Identify and advocate for new technology where necessary to advance the capacity for mission-driven data analytics across A&S.

Required Specific Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in each of the following areas:
-Quantitative and qualitative analysis in an educational environment;
-Project management including the demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects to completion and produce exceptional results;
-Work with large, complex, and diverse data sets from multiple sources and in multiple formats;
-Deliver reporting solutions that meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience providing high level academic or programmatic analysis, modeling, forecasting and presentation of data tailored to the knowledge base of the audience. Experience providing analytics for executive leadership decision making.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Outstanding communicator; exceptional ability to convey complex data and analysis through multiple modes, including graphics, and in written and oral forms, to a diverse group of constituents, many of whom will have only general knowledge of data analytics.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment, exercising influence and achieving results.
Capability to build relationships of trust with diverse stakeholders (incl. senior leadership, faculty, and staff) and work effectively with them.
A high level of individual initiative and drive, balanced by an ability to take direction from others and add value to projects originating with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic understanding of the business fundamentals of higher education institutions.
Required Computer Applications: Strong skills working with spreadsheets, presentation software, and visual analytics tools such as Qlik Sense and Tableau.
