The City of Jacksonville is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of a Mayor and four City Council members, elected by precinct and serving two-year terms. The City Council appoints a professional City Manager who directs the day-to-day operations of the organization.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible management experience in a city manager, assistant city manager, or other senior municipal management position is required.
