The Office of Auxiliary Operations Analysis (AOA) at the University of Wisconsin – Madison is currently recruiting for an Accountant. AOA is responsible for coordinating the annual budget process, financial reporting and analysis for all auxiliary operations at UW-Madison.
The accountant prepares budget templates, reviews budget submissions, reconciles budgets to the Campus Redbook, and prepares summary schedules for major auxiliaries. Budgets for Fiscal Year 2017-18 were $543 million. For minor auxiliaries, the accountant maintains a database of activities, reviews requests for new accounts, provides advice regarding rate calculations and account management, monitors finances for assigned accounts and works with schools and colleges to resolve surpluses and deficits. The accountant also processes billings and cost allocations and prepares financial reports.
The best qualified candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of cash and accrual basis accounting and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) along with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Word.
