Budget Title: Instructional Support Technician (SL-3)
Binghamton University Libraries is seeking an individual to be responsible for centralized management and oversight of library virtual servers. Primary emphasis is on managing multi-campus customer service needs, deploying applications and operating systems, and acting as a technical escalation point for all Library technology services. Collaborate with campus Information Technology Services (ITS) on networking and server issues related to library technology.
This position is key to keeping existing systems operational and integrated with each other. At the same time bringing on new systems for students to engage with technology in libraries and assisting faculty, staff and students to achieve goals and experience success.
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
Familiarity with Windows Server (2003-3012 R2) and Windows 7, including settings, services, roles, security, and configuration
Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, TCP/IP, and DHCP
Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, software packages and products, including working knowledge of Windows operating systems
Experience in OS Deployments via PXE or boot media
Troubleshooting OS Deployment failures
Experience preparing standard statistical reports
Ability to maintain a positive track record of successful communication and problem solving skills
Strong customer service skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and three years' experience working as a network analyst or network engineer
Core understanding of Red Hat Server Operating Systems
Technology, network, and system administration certifications
SCCM 2012 deployment and infrastructure knowledge including troubleshooting experience
Project management experience
Knowledge of programming languages and databases, HTML, CSS, web development and SQL
