Position is able to utilize accounting knowledge and moderate analytical ability to provide management with accurate and timely financial information. Includes preparation of journal entries, financial statements, variance analysis and ad hoc reporting for the different companies within the health plan operations. In turn, they will develop specific knowledge of the accounting rules and processes surrounding the insurance and healthcare industries.
Monthly Financial Close –
Prepare entries and moderate analysis surrounding the various aspects of the revenue and reimbursement streams of the Commercial and other government sponsored health insurance programs lines of business.
Assist in preparation of regulatory compliance filings based on guidance of the various regulatory agencies governing insurance products.
Assist in preparation investment accounting entries and reporting.
Maintain intercompany balance accounts and coordinate with related entities as necessary.
Generate financial statements for review and variance analysis
Investigate and research various account transactions from Accounts Payable and General Ledger modules to validate reasonable balances
Reconcile bank and other key asset and liability accounts
Audit Requirements –
Assist in preparation of internal, external, and regulatory audit requests on various company entities as needed.
Other Responsibilities –
Applies moderate knowledge of GAAP accounting rules to daily/ monthly financial reporting, and ad hoc reporting requests
Responds to customer inquiries timely and efficiently.
Learns and incorporates quality improvement concepts and tools into all phases of the job. Is alert to customer needs and assists management in identifying ways to meet those needs
Develops specific knowledge of the major corporate and external operating/data systems with interfaces to the general ledger system
Participates in projects and team activities to identify problems and improve work processes and systems Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting with 3-5 years of relevant experience or an Associate Degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated PC skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Windows and Internet Explorer)
Great Plains and FRx software experience a plus
