University Extension (UNEX) offers certificates, credentials, and non-credit programs that result in more than 24,000 enrollments per year, in classroom-based and online courses. The Business Technology and Health (BTH) unit enrolls students in over 40 certificate programs including but not limited to; business management and leadership, Nursing, case management, and community health, as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Electronics, and Microsoft professional development. BTH cooperates with businesses and governmental agencies in the region, UCR departments, and faculty across campus to design and implement educational programs. The Director is responsible for the community partnerships, continuing education services in the areas of business, technology and health programs working with campus, businesses and workforce development that support our local area. This unit operates on a self-supporting annual budget of $1,700,000, employing 3 full-time staff and 50 instructors.
The Business Technology and Health Director reports directly to the Dean of University Extension and ensures the academic, administrative, and fiscal success of current and potential self-supporting programs through a demonstrated ability to lead, challenge, inspire, and motivate a team of dedicated professionals who teach and support programs delivered in Inland Southern California, and around the world. The Director is expected to provide the academic leadership necessary to maintain Extension's preeminent status in business, technology, and health programs and evaluate and successfully respond to the educational needs of the community we serve. As a member of the Extension leadership team, the Director collaborates with the Dean and other Extension units to support Extension's mission of outreach to the community and its commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and customer service. The Director is expected to provide strong leadership in curricular and instructional areas, strategic planning, marketing, student recruitment, and departmental budget management. This position interacts with other Extension academic directors, service units, instructors, and staff, campus and community leaders, local and state agencies, and the broader community to which UCR Extension relates. It is essential that the Director develop and implement successful revenue generating continuing education programs, exhibit a commitment to academic excellence, and consistently demonstrate a pro-active vision regarding appropriate entrepreneurial initiatives.

Master's degree in a closely related field, such as business administration, engineering, or education,
Minimum of 10 years' senior administrative experience leading, developing, and delivering education programs, marketing
Record of success in leading and managing large and diverse teams
Proven record of entrepreneurial success and revenue generation
Strong knowledge of strategic partnerships and new business development, envisioning and creating new programs while supporting existing programs and services
Demonstrated results-based leadership with superb management and business development skills
Established record of content, course, and program development and quality assurance standards
Record of experience working with diverse communities along with highly developed interpersonal and intercultural skills
Record of experience brokering relationships with businesses, campus entities, government officials, and secondary and tertiary institutions with a wide variety of needs and budgets
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Terminal degree in a closely related field, such as business administration, engineering or education
Experience with online and digital educational services
