The Director Obstetrics is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing nursing unit with twenty-four hour accountability.
Plans an adequate staffing pattern for the department and completes department schedules to maintain acceptable nurse to patient ratio as well as other necessary coverage.
Leads the initiative to develop the department by interviewing and selecting the best candidates for open positions in collaboration with the peer interview process.
Participates in improving patient satisfaction and safety by regularly completing rounding assignments and accurately entering information related to the patient in a specific database.
Provides input for establishing annual operational, manpower, and capital budgets. Monitors monthly departmental revenues, expenses and variances.
Provides leadership and department coordination by leading unit meeting and supporting Shared Governance Council initiatives.
Appropriately conducts accurate employee evaluations annually. Aids in the development of individual employee goals.
Supervises employees by monitoring individual performance, coaching, counseling and intervening when necessary based upon employee performance. Participates in the disciplinary process as appropriate.
Provides leadership by coordinating with the Shared Governance Council to develop SMART departmental goals that align with the organization strategic plan. Assists in monitoring the progress toward achieving the goals and creates action plans to assure success.
Monitors the results of customer satisfaction surveys and helps in creating and successfully implementing action plans to increase the scores on satisfaction surveys.
