Teach across graduate nursing programs.such areas as advanced pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, advanced health promotion, evidence-based practice and research, epidemiology, ethics, evidence-based practice, health behavior change, information science, nursing theory, organization and systems leadership, psychiatric-mental health, and other areas as needed to meet the requirements of this CCNE accredited program.
Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community.
Assist with programmatic accreditation
Work effectively with health care industry and clinical affiliates
Advise graduate students
Chair and serve on students' master's thesis and scholarly inquiry paper committees; serve on DNP Project committees
Maintain an active program of scholarship
Communicate effectively and participating actively in a CCNE accredited department of nursing with undergraduate and graduate programs.
Contribute to non-teaching activities (e.g. governance, committees, university service) and to community service utilizing professional nursing expertise
Graduate degree must be in nursing (i.e., Masters, PhD or DNP) from a CCNE, NLNAC, or ACEN accredited nursing program
Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
Evidence of research, scholarship, or achievement appropriate for the graduate program
Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
Licensed as a Registered Nurse with current registration or eligible for licensure in MN and WI
If an APRN, national certification and APRN licensure or eligible for APRN licensure in MN
CPR certification, up-to-date immunizations, including influenza, prior to appointment and maintained ongoing
Official academic transcripts and background check required prior to appointment.
Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
One or more of the following:
National certification as an adult or adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist
National certification as an adult or adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner
National certification as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner
Experience as a nurse administrator within a healthcare organization
Experience as a nurse educator, preferably within an academic institution
Demonstrated potential for excellence in didactic and clinical teaching at the graduate level
Evidence of potential to work cooperatively with colleagues and students
Demonstrated potential for advising graduate students, including theses, scholarly inquiry papers, or DNP projects
Demonstrated potential for leadership and working effectively with clinical agencies
Evidence of experience working with diverse populations
Teaching and/or work experience in subject area
Evidence of demonstrated proficiency using computer and distance learning technologies to enhance instruction (e.g., online learning platforms, synchronous webinars, etc.)
