Join us and start doing your life's best work.SMPrimary Responsibilities:This position will be based out of Melville, NY; however the location can change day to day. You will be assisting patient/family in completing various government sponsored programs on-site and off-site. Assess patient's eligibility for government sponsored programs/financial assistance.Verifies patient's information to complete application.Coordinates with various agencies and individuals to resolve individual cases.Provides information regarding health system regulations and policies pertaining to medical coverage.Contacts patient/family and conducts interviews for the purpose of assessing eligibility.Meets with and assists patient/family in completing applications in order to ensure coverage.Checks patient account for previous balances and advises patient of all financial obligations.Informs patient of collection policyNotifies appropriate hospital staff regarding eligibility status and determination.Coordinates with various city and county agencies to resolve individual cases.Answers the telephone and maintains files. Informs Supervisor/Manager of activities, issues and problem cases.Accumulates data for performance reports.Performs related duties as required.Some work is completed without established procedures.Basic tasks are completed without review by others.Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.
Requirements: High school education or GED3+ year of experience in an office setting environment using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform job duties1+ years' experience enrolling patients in the Market Place AND Department of Social Services government programs. Must have a working knowledge of submitting various types of Medicaid applications to the local Department of Social ServicesAvailable to work 37.5 hours per week 8a-4p with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule, and work over-time and/or weekends, as neededBilingual English/SpanishMust have a valid Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification or ability to obtain a CAC certification within 3 months of employment. Experience with Word, Excel & Outlook, management with calendar, emails, documents, and spreadsheets Must have a vehicle to drive to the local Department of Social Services, to hospitals, and to do field work as needed for example going to the patient's homes to complete or gather documentation needed to submit the cases. Mileage will be compensated. (You would be commuting to any of the following hospitals: LIJ Valley Stream, Zucker Hillside Hospital, Huntington Hospital, LIJ Forest Hills Hospital, Glen Cove Hospital, Plainview Hospital, Syosset Hospital, Monter Cancer Center).Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computerHospital environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activityCareers with OptumInsight.
