Loudoun County's Department of Family Services is seeking qualified applicants with a demonstrated interest in working with older adults and adults with disabilities to join a dynamic 13-member team as an Adult Protective (APS) Family Services Specialist. This position will be responsible for investigating APS reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of individuals who are over 60 years old or who are between 18-60 and incapacitated. Additional responsibilities include provision of Adult Services such as Medicaid nursing home prescreenings and participating in community outreach and collaboration. The successful candidate will join a diverse department that offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment in which in-depth assessment and service planning ensure the highest quality service delivery to vulnerable individuals. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, psychology, gerontology or related field and 3 years of experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities. Must be available to participate in responsibility for overnight/weekend APS coverage (one week every 4-6 weeks) as well as to cover daytime APS Intake as needed. Master’s degree and bi-lingual Spanish preferred. Experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities required.Valid resident driver's license required. Serve on a rotation for on call responsibilities. May be required to work outside of the standard, scheduled work week. Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, child protective services and driving record checks.
