Under the direct supervision of the VP of ASC and Quality, this position has primary oversight of organization-wide risk management, quality improvement and patient safety programs for all Laser Spine Institute facilities providing patient care.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
Select and coordinate LSI/LSSC participation in a Patient Safety Organization (PSO), coordinate data entry and PSO reports, communicate PSO data to Med Ops leadership team and provide staff training related to PSO participation. Collaborate with the VP of ASC and Quality to provide patient safety training in follow-up to identified improvement areas flowing from PSO participation.
Integrate PSO participation into the Risk Management Program at each facility.
Assisting in coordinating and standardizing the Risk Management Program at all facilities. Review and update annually as needed to assure regulatory and accreditation compliance. Collaborate with the VP of ASC and Quality for the provision of mandatory annual RM/QI/PSO education for all staff.
Assisting in collaborating with the Risk Manager Designees at each facility to generate quarterly and annual RM reports and summaries and assisting with the development of root cause analysis/corrective action plans and QI studies as necessary.
Assisting in coordinating and standardizing the Peer Review Process for all facilities. Review and update process annually to assure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
Assisting in coordinating and standardizing the Patient Safety Committee process for all facilities.
Assisting in coordinating and standardizing the Medical Quality Assurance Committee process for all facilities, ensuring consistent mandatory quarterly and annual communication and reporting with the Governing Body as required by regulation and accreditation.
Assisting in reviewing, revising and updating as needed the Clinical Policies and Procedures related to RM/QI/Patient Safety Programs and coordinate communication of updates to clinical staff.
Assisting in facilitating and monitoring the Patient Grievance Process at all Laser Spine Institute facilities.
Assisting in the preparation and implementation of all mandatory reporting of serious Unanticipated Events to PSO and to state regulatory bodies as required. Coordinate the follow-up communication, corrective plans and internal reporting with the affected facility’s clinical leadership team.
Assists with the development and regular updating of the Infection prevention planning and evaluation.
Coordinate with designated Quality Improvement staff at each facility to maintain a regular schedule of benchmarking and QI study activity, to include assistance with topic identification, coordination of activities between facilities to maximize sharing of data and other metrics, study design and follow-through, and restudy as indicated. Assure reporting of QI activities as required by the Performance Improvement Program and accreditation standards.

BSN or ASN with related experience
2-5 years in an acute care nursing setting
Proficient at Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Superior analytical skills
Must be detail-oriented
Must be familiar with multi-state reporting, RMQI regulations and laws
Must have a background in research in regards to infection control and patient safety
Must have the ability to travel
3 years nursing experience in ASC setting
Minimum of 1 year experience service as a Risk Manager or Risk Manager designee
Laser Spine Institute nursing experience
Must obtain Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager within 6 months of employment
