Internal Audit has an outstanding opportunity for a Staff Auditor. Under the general direction of audit managers, the Staff Auditors are responsible for assisting in the completion of internal audits within the University. Staff auditors participate as a team member on financial, operational, compliance, and system audits. They are expected to demonstrate proficiency in performing internal audit work which conforms to professional standards. Audit work includes assisting in the planning of the audit, conducting detailed testing and evaluation of audit results, and participation in the reporting of audit results. Work assigned to staff auditors is expected to be carried out under the supervision of the lead auditor assigned to the audit. The complexity and size of audit assignments varies.
Assist in the preparation of audit planning documentation for all assigned audits.
Executes a wide variety of audit tests/procedures and accurately interprets results against defined criteria.
Applies internal control concepts in a wide variety of University settings and appropriately assesses the exposures resulting from ineffective or missing control practices.
Understands the financial, operational, and compliance risks which affect University activities; demonstrates the ability to identify and appropriately measure those risks; and formulates recommendations which are appropriate, practical and cost-effective.
Consistently documents relevant facts and information to support the work performed and conclusions drawn so other reviewers can follow the auditor's logic and methodology.
Effectively evaluates audit results, weighing the relevancy, accuracy, and perspective of conclusions against the accumulated audit evidence.
Effectively communicates audit results and recommendations to supervisory auditor for evaluation and eventual discussion with auditee management.
Interprets and evaluates compliance with applicable federal and state laws and University policies.
Conducts audits in accordance with professional and departmental standards. Completes work with limited instructions, yet knows when to seek guidance from supervising staff when circumstances warrant.
Interacts effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings. Demonstrates effective time management skills by completing assignments within time budgets.
Keeps current on technical accounting, auditing and government pronouncements.
Participates in Internal Audit's quality and process improvement program as requested

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information technology, or related discipline.
2 years of audit experience.
Strong understanding of internal controls.
Outstanding analytical, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
