The Software Engineer position is a challenging and influential role. You will interact directly with Product Management, Software Engineering, and the Enterprise Architect to discover, clarify, and understand product and solution requirements. Based on these requirements, you will participate in planning and implementing software solutions. Development will involve individual programming as well as working within a team. The solutions must adhere to highly available architectures and automated software testing techniques.
Position reports to: Director, Software Engineering
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Meet with stakeholders and product management personnel to define, review, elaborate, and document system requirements.
Provide second and third level support that delights clients.
Design effective and efficient technical solutions.
Perform a thorough impact analysis when changes are being made to existing applications to minimize breakage in existing functions.
Produce code with low defect rates.
Meet target delivery dates.
Practice Agile development techniques.
Share business and technical knowledge across teams.
Resolve complex business and technical problems.
Report, monitor, and resolve software defects.
Use SQL query analysis tools and optimize queries and database designs.
Write unit tests and automated functional tests.
Develop and implement software that supports interoperability.
Participate in code peer reviews.
Compliance with Intermedix policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
3+ years of experience with one or more object oriented programming languages.
Moderate database design and implementation abilities.
Previous experience using frameworks for O/R Mapping, Dependency Injection, and Application/UI frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to optimize software performance and scalability.
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
