Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.(sm) In this exciting role as a Senior Director of Portfolio Management, you will report to the CIO, UHC Medicare & Retirement (M&R) and have overall accountability for Portfolio Management across the M&R portfolio. You will be responsible to define and govern the process to evaluate and prioritize technology investments by:Increasing the alignment of technology investments to business strategy Facilitating the process of prioritizing, approving and scheduling investments Partnering with stakeholders to monitor and identify the need for action on the portfolio Ensuring the involvement of key stakeholders in the portfolio management processPrimary Responsibilities:Serve as a trusted partner to M&R business leadership by providing innovative thought leadership and guidance on engaging the technology investment process to translate strategy into actionable execution Develop investment scenarios/options based on M&R business strategic themes, cost, business value, capability type & health, and other key metrics over a three to five year horizon aligned to business capability and technology roadmaps Partner with business architecture to drive continuous planning and maintain a prioritized three year capability road map Drive continuous improvement in the portfolio management processes Maintain a balanced, prioritized portfolio Develop a groomed backlog across the portfolio Understand, evaluate and manage risks to the portfolio Field escalations related to funding challenges Recommend strategies to maximize the use of available budget Ensure financial approval processes are executed in a timely manner Participate in monthly capital forecasts Communicate prioritization changes to all impacted partiesEnsure transparency and engagement of M&R stakeholders on programs and initiatives impacting but not funded by M&R Provide appropriate standard and ad-hoc reporting on portfolio performance Partner to ensure resource alignment to deliver the M&R portfolio Provide guidance and coaching on portfolio management processes to stakeholders
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience developing solutions to key business problems 7+ years of professional manager level matrixed experience in a large, enterprise environment Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with all levels of the organization up to and including executives Well-developed informal influence & persuasion skills Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizations Ability to analyze and take action on key performance indicators (KPIs) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong working knowledge of how business and IT interact and operate togetherPreferred Qualifications:Graduate Degree 5+ years of healthcare experience; preferably in the healthcare benefits business Experience in UnitedHealth Group Experience working in a Medicare benefits business Agile experience Professional Services Consulting experienceCareers with UnitedHealthcare.
