Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an IRB Administrator for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). The incumbent in this position will provide critical regulatory support to the Rutgers IRBs and IACUCs. The IRB Administrator is responsible for: coordination, facilitation and monitoring of single institutional review boards (sIRBs), commercial IRBs, facilitated studies as well as development and implementation of IRB or IACUC authorization and reliance agreements.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts regulatory required tasks that are university-wide and that encompass all study sites, manages and directs initial and continuing review of research, reporting of unanticipated problems and serious or continued non-compliance.
Screens research protocols submitted for review, facilitates the review of such protocols, acts as subject matter expert on the protection of human subject research, including regulations governing the use of such subjects, provides education and training to reviewers, committee members, committees, faculty researchers, and staff on a wide variety of topics.
Utilizes home-grown and other University databases, protects integrity and confidentiality of research, generates agendas and minutes and reports as needed, assists faculty users with electronic protocol submission.
Reviews and certifies grant proposals to funding agencies for regulatory compliance, and provides advice to researchers regarding federal and other relevant regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in the health sciences or a related field or an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training
Five (5) years of administrative experience in a research environment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the IRB process.
Demonstrated verbal and writing skills
Solid PC skills including thorough knowledge of MS Office functions and electronic database tracking systems.
Outstanding interpersonal and management skills, a collaborative style, and experience working with faculty, staff, and students in achieving their research goals
Master’s or other advanced degree
Prior work in human subject research or research compliance, protocol writing and/or document review, and grant proposal congruence review.
Certified IRB Manager (CIM), Certified IRB Professional (CIP), or equivalent certification is preferred.
