The Department of Psychology at Lebanon Valley College invites applications, for individuals with expertise in psychopathology, for a tenure-track assistant professor of Psychology position ideally starting August 2018 or January 2019. Instructional responsibilities will involve teaching undergraduate foundational courses in the Psychology major (e.g., Introductory Psychology) and courses related to psychopathology (e.g., Abnormal Behavior, and any focused on one’s specific interests).
The Department’s approach to education is framed around facilitating students’ growth in evidence-based reasoning built on developing skills to (1) acquire knowledge, (2) assemble information to form conclusions, (3) analyze data, (4) apply what they’ve learned to the real world, and (5) articulate their insights in oral and written form.
Applicants must submit a teaching philosophy (that includes a succinct statement of how this philosophy aligns with the Department’s approach to education), as well as a letter of application, curriculum vitae, summary of teaching evaluations (if available), and three letters of recommendation (along with complete contact information for each referee) to http://apply.interfolio.com/47624 . Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please visit www.lvc.edu/psychology/ for more information about the department.
Applicants should have a strong commitment to student engagement and quality teaching as a primary focus across a normal instructional load of 12 credits per semester, and must be able to balance that with participation in faculty governance, service to the College, and an ability to supervise undergraduate research projects. Preference will be given to candidates who have earned a Ph.D. prior to the start date.
Lebanon Valley College has an institutional commitment to excellence through diversity in its educational programs and employment practices and welcomes applications from candidates with exceptional qualifications, particularly those with demonstrable commitments to a more inclusive society and world.
