The End Point Systems Administrator will primarily focus on the centralized administration of tools and technologies resulting in innovative computing solutions used by internal and external technical teams to ensure the efficient delivery of information technology supporting clinical, financial, research, and administrative workflow. Under the general guidance of the End Device Support Manager, this position is responsible for all functions that pertain to centralized/remote management of ~25,000 end points in three separate Active Directory domains automating network management of user data, security and distributed resources.
This position provides customer support to End Device Support Specialists (EDSS) and other end users to ensure a highly available, highly secure, highly reliable, easy to use distributed production computing environment comprised of multiple Active Directory domains. This position supports an environment comprised of a network of distributed hosts, enterprise level servers, departmental servers and client end user devices. This position promotes the implementation of UW Medicine IT Services' strategy, focusing on standard technologies and providing the user community (including remote affiliates) with well-supported services and tools consistent with the standards and guidelines within UW Medicine.
UW Medicine relies on enterprise wide technological solutions and electronic information to enable the quickest and most reliable health care for its customers. These systems must be available on a 24 x 7 basis in order to allow Physicians and Nursing staff access to vital patient information. If the systems are not available the potential for lost revenue and patient life is very real. Not only is the availability of the information but also the security of the information of the highest priority.
Will require the establishment of technical and customer relationships as part of the enterprise Facilities/Clinical Onboarding program: conduct site assessments, determine hardware requirements, procure hardware, coordinate operational resources for hardware configuration and installation, deployment schedule coordination with customers and peer groups, hardware testing and validation.
Active participant in meetings pertaining to project intake, project scoping, facilities planning and environment of care.
Perform necessary change management protocols to facilitate the move of project-related work to operations.
Facilitate cross-team process improvement initiatives, document management, and CMDB.
Enterprise level security patching of all systems supported by EDSS'. Tests all patches to validate that application functionality is not impacted before pushing to the Enterprise.
Troubleshooting and remediation of issues with System Center Configuration Manager, Sophos End Point Security, Active Directory, VSphere, Unidesk, and App-V.
Perform various system administration duties (i.e. vulnerability analysis, firewall management, and group policy management)
Customize/configure, manage, and utilize enterprise level central management tools such as SCCM.
Develop procedures to eliminate or minimize security risks.
Implement, review, audit and remediate Microsoft updates using tools such as SCCM, NexPose and MS Baseline Security Analyzer.
Ensure procedures are followed that ensure the security and integrity of data and software.
Provide consultation to EDSS', IT Services project teams and the general Medical Center user community.
Design, develop and package desktops; provide access to a utility in SCCM that allows EDSS' to install role-based desktop images to physical hardware.
Create, target and deploy complex software packages.
Define/assist architectural changes to Active Directory, SCCM, and various other applications as needed in preparation for staged rollouts of system upgrades.
Design and develop new OS and application suite.
Test/validate all new hardware platforms prior to introduction into the production environment.
Tier 3 on call support.
Virtual desktop design, development and provisioning using VMWare VSphere.
Manage, develop, deploy, and support virtual application environments using App-V.
Manage, develop, deploy, and support virtual desktops using VMware.
Participate in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement projects.
Mentoring and consulting services for internal and external technical teams.
Technical documentation editing and validation.
Desktop Software license monitoring.
Active Directory group management.
Participate in research, planning, evaluation and implementation of UW Medicine technical strategies.
Assist in the planning, design and implementation of business resumption procedures and practices.
Research and analyze capacity planning, system performance, utilization and plan improvement measures.
What you'll bring to the table: (minimum requirements)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related or equivalent combination of education/experience.
2+ years' experience must include the following:
2+ years' experience with systems design, analysis, installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of workstations, system software, and drivers in support of end user computing devices.
2+ years' experience with systems administration, troubleshooting, maintenance-related programming, and production support.
Demonstrated experience with SCCM Server administration.
Demonstrated experience with virtual end devices and applications with an emphasis on VMware and App-V.
Understanding of Active Directory architecture.
Scripting experience (VBScript and/or ADSI to manage Active Directory).
Demonstrated project management skills.
Experience in supporting the Microsoft suite of application software.
Knowledge of local and wide area networks technologies.
Experience developing and implementing distributed network file sharing and print services.
Demonstrated experience working with hardware and software vendors.
Demonstrated experience supporting systems utilizing SQL, Exchange, Windows Terminal Server.
Experience with large scale, complex systems.
Ideally, you'll also have: (desired skills and experience)
Experience supporting multiple Active Directory domains.
