UMKC Charter School Center is seeking applications for an Assistant Program Director to work at our Volker Campus. UMKC Charter School Center's (UMKC CSC) mission is to empower urban youths to attain their full potential, thus resulting in a city, state, and nation that can compete in a global economy.
Duties for the assistant program director for charter schools include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the oversight of the nine University of Missouri-Kansas City-sponsored charter schools in the Kansas City School District.
Lead, assist, and support the building administration at the charter schools with research proven strategies.
Develop, implement, and lead charter schools with new applications, renewals, probationary processes, and any potential or actual charter school revocation.
Monitor charter school compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Attend all yearly reviews of all charter schools and assume responsibility for agendas and submitting all final documentation on each charter school's growth towards the charter school application.
Attend Board of Directors' meetings.
Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with charter school administration, staff, and all appropriate personnel at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Assist the program director in working directly with the board of directors and administration on policies, procedures, and Missouri Sunshine Law.
Schedule consultants to review and advise charter school administrators and board of directors on charter school revenues and expenses as related to any changes in the Missouri funding formula.
Help assist and monitor all state and federal grants.
Serve as a liaison between the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the charter schools as it relates to charter applications and renewals.
Attend state-sponsored workshops and sponsor meetings related to charter schools. Be willing to attend national charter school conferences and local workshops, seminars, and conferences related to areas of responsibility.
Update the charter school administrators and governing boards on changes to charter school laws.
Ensure all charter school laws are incorporated into the year-end evaluations. Conduct and oversee a comprehensive and ongoing review of the essential oversight activities.
Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to expand the number of schools and students serviced by UMKC.
Develop a set of written policies and procedures for UMKC as a sponsor of charter schools.
Establish clear measurable performance outcomes that are reviewed on an annual basis.
Coordinate with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education all functions which guarantee the sponsor to receive full funding.
Observe and assist with the preparation of all reports and documentation that require submission by the charter schools to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Maintain charter school files.
Attend monthly meetings with immediate supervisor and the program director for charter schools.
Communicate effectively with immediate supervisor, the dean for the school of education, and program director on all related charter school issues.
Assist with the supervision and evaluation of the administrative assistant through informal and formal documentation and ongoing communications.
Schedule and facilitate charter school principals meetings.
