Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance and Research Administration for the Department of Neurology, the Junior Grants Analyst will support the finance and research administration functions in the department. The Junior Grants Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive pre- award support and high level post-award support for Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Department of Neurology. This position will function in a team environment and be primarily responsible for the review and approval of federal, foundation, and non-profit proposals submitted by Department of Neurology faculty.
The Junior Grants Analyst will closely review proposal budgets, budget justifications, and administrative information to ensure compliance with University guidelines, federal regulations (Uniform Guidance), and sponsor guidelines as applicable to the proposed faculty research. This position will be responsible for the timely submission and approval of grant proposals in a deadline driven environment. Proposal review and approval may include electronic submission using various agency systems, such as InfoEd, Proposal Central, eRA Commons, or NIH Assist.
The position will work with both faculty and administrative staff to ensure the department operates in a financially sustainable manner. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:'
Research Administration: -Assist department faculty in the development, review, submission and renewal of various types of sponsored project proposals from a variety of sponsors including NIH, private foundations, government, and industry -Provide high-level administrative support in the setup of new sponsored project accounts. -Provide team support for completing post-award reporting requirements (quarterly and/or annual progress and financial reports). Assist as needed, with routine internal reporting requirements required for sponsored projects (i.e. effort reporting, PI attestations, etc.)'
Financial Administration: -Maintains funding overviews/forecasts for faculty in assigned divisions and meets with faculty to review on a regular basis -Monitor restricted funds expenditure for active awards, as needed
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience. Plus two years of related experience related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bright, competent, and organized individual that is self-motivated, reliable, conscientious, and able to solve analytical problems, as well as plan independently. Must be able to work with all levels of staff. Position requires establishing and maintaining relationships within and across departments, as well as servicing the grant and accounting needs of Principal Investigators.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient or Advanced Proficiency creating and using MS Excel spreadsheets. Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain required confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of government and foundational granting requirements, grants administration, and PeopleSoft financials preferred.
