Under the supervision of UC Davis and the general direction of the Health Program Manager III, the Media Communication Specialist will join a team responsible for communicating key information to stakeholders in a dynamic environment. The Media Communication Specialist filling this role will respond to media inquiries from various media entities coordinating and gathering the responses from subject matter experts. The responsibilities include the development, coordination and maintenance of the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC) website(s) and act as the liaison to the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) on behalf of the Center for Infectious Diseases (CID).REQUIRED--Bachelor's degree of Public Health or related field or experience with a local or state public health agency preferred--Demonstrated experience in communication, marketing, public relations or related field utilizing successful interpersonal, oral and written communications skills to effectively interact with diverse groups, colleagues, public officials, and supervisors--Demonstrated experience or knowledge of working with website management--Experience in written and verbal communications with diverse levels of staff and management--Strong project management skills to coordinate and multitask with various internal and external stakeholders with the ability to meet deadlines--Skills with utilization and management of SharePoint system--Skills to use of common software products such as Microsof1 Word, PowerPoint and Excel--Excellent organizational skills- both written and verbal--Skills to communicate the role of public health within the health system, government organizations and community to diverse audiences--Skills to use relevant information, and individual judgment, to determine whe0rnr events or processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards or procedures. --Further identify and develop standard operating procedures to utilize in specific situations--Ability to use independent judgment, decision making and problem resolution to perform technical, operational, or administrative functions--Ability to understand, interpret and apply public health laws, regulations, statutes, policies and procedures regarding public health and health information.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
