Clerk Typist, Residential Learning and University Housing/Dean of Students Office

Assists with the day-to-day administrative functions of the Office of Residential Learning and University Housing.
Provides "frontline" customer service, answering the department telephone and greeting callers efficiently and politely, while providing information and appropriate referrals as needed.
Initiates requisitions, purchase orders, disbursements, and other financial transactions as directed.
Coordinates the deposit of cash and checks for the department and maintains petty cash funds.
Ensures that financial transactions comply with relevant policies and procedures.
Prepares travel documents.
Oversees and schedules the day-to-day activities of student personnel within the office.
Prepares correspondence, mailings, reports, and agendas.
Takes and prepares minutes of meetings.
Maintains mailing and contact lists for use by the department.
Assists in scheduling and organization of various meetings, programs, and activities and events.
Coordinates the purchasing of supplies and ensures that office supplies and equipment are appropriately inventoried and maintained.
Performs other related duties as required.
Candidates will be required to take and pass a typing test at 40 wpm or higher or show proof of passing a NJ CSC test or Rowan University typing test in the past. The test will only be scheduled for candidates selected for interview.
Experience in an educational organization, business, or government agency.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of modern office routines, procedures, methods, equipment, and machines and devices and ability to adapt these to the department.
Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and informative records and reports.
Ability to maintain records of requisitions, invoices, and payments.
Ability to organize assigned work and to develop effective work plans.
Ability to use technology to carry out electronic communication and develop both printed and electronic documents using computers and the Internet.
Experience working with Windows system software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Microsoft Outlook, and Banner.
Ability to speak and write to communicate effectively and interact tactfully with all levels of university students, staff, faculty, parents and the public; read, analyze, and interpret documents, forms, procedures and policies, and reports; and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.

Range A06 (Starting Salary Range: $26,841-$30,281)
