Department Profile Professionals within Legal and Compliance provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm's invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm's businesses.
Background on the Position This role is based in Hong Kong and reports to the AP Fixed Income & Commodities ("FIC") Compliance Head. FIC Compliance team is part of Compliance's Sales and Trading coverage team. It provides guidance and advice to AP FIC business and its support staff and assists them to comply with relevant laws, rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities - Advice and Interpretation: Provide oral and written general compliance and transactional advice to FIC on compliance policies and procedures and relevant laws, rules and regulations. Participate in the New Product Approval process for relevant business areas, providing compliance advice and sign off on transactions. - Business Engagement: Engage with business across FIC providing them with regulatory advice, appropriate management information and compliance support with respect to the regulatory aspects of the business they operate. - Implementation of New Policies and Procedures: Assist in the implementation of new policies and procedures or, as appropriate, the update of existing policies and procedures in response to, or in anticipation of, relevant rule changes and new legislation and industry guidance. - Strategic Projects and Initiatives: Participate in strategic projects and initiatives with other regional and global legal and compliance professionals relating to FIC. - Regulatory and Client Enquiries: Assist with enquiries from regulatory authorities and clients and liaise with legal and compliance professionals and other support areas of the Firm on these matters. - Compliance Reviews: Work closely with the monitoring and testing team and manage reviews of FIC business to ensure compliance with relevant rules, including review / test check design, implementation and execution of testing and completion and resolution of action items. - Training: Management of ongoing training program for FIC on a broad array of Compliance and regulatory issues. - Regulatory Audits: Assist in the co-ordination of regulatory audits and visits and follow-up on findings as necessary. - Industry Association / Consultation Documents / Comment Letters: Participate in internal and external industry discussions and assist in the drafting of responses and initiatives from industry associations and regulatory bodies as necessary.*LI-GK2
Skills required (essential) - Minimum of 10 years of related experience in Compliance - Experience in a variety of fixed income and commodities businesses. - Ability to effectively review and analyze data/situations and apply judgment to resolve issues in a timely manner - Proficient in time management and able to initiate and manage projects. - Strong analytical and communications skills and a team player
