We are looking for a professional economist to join our Global Macro Research, Global Foreign exchange and Emerging Markets Strategy team who wants to be a part of our Global Investment Research Division (GIR) and use their skills and ideas to make an impact to the success of the business at Goldman Sachs. From macroeconomic forecasts to individual stock analysis, our team develops tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. Our colleagues work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights.
Goldman Sachs develops global client-focused research in economics, portfolio strategy, derivatives and equity and credit securities. Our clients use these insights and investment ideas to develop their strategies. Our clients include asset managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, and pension funds, among others.
You'll be part of a team that is intellectually curious, creative, analytical, and passionate about performing market research.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Generate unique, thematic written research on the interaction between economics and markets and in particular on themes in currency and rates markets - Develop quantitative models to forecast global currencies - Interpret and comment on high-frequency economic data releases - Build and maintain financial models - Present economic/market views to external and internal clients
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Strong academic record with Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline required - Prior investment banking industry experience with strong focus on Global FX research essential - Experience in identifying opportunities and providing insight on Developed and Emerging market currencies, combining short-term tactical and medium-term strategic investment horizons. - Experience of presenting market insight/research to different teams and stakeholders/clients required - Experience of reporting, developing valuation metrics, tools and analysis (economic, political, market etc.) required - Demonstrable involvement with process improvement initiatives required - Must be an enthusiastic researcher - Demonstrable capability of publishing original and thought-provoking research in a time-bound manner required - Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of Eviews, MATLAB, R and Bloomberg required - Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills required - Ability to work both autonomously and in a close team setting required - Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to interact with global stakeholders required
