Assistant Professor – Tenure Track Applied Trumpet Department of Music College of Liberal Arts
Teach undergraduate courses in applied trumpet study
Perform in classical and jazz styles; other duties may be assigned with needs of the department
Participate in course and curriculum development
Recruit and retain trumpet students
Maintain active research and scholarly activity
Advise and mentor undergraduate students
Serve as a liaison and resources to public school music teachers in region
Serve on university, college, and department level committees
Earned D.M.A, Ph.D., or D.A. in Trumpet Performance. Secondary areas of emphases may include Jazz/Commercial Studies, Music Technology, Sound Design/Recording Engineering, Music Business, or Music Theory within a Doctoral or Master’s degree (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
Demonstrated evidence of visionary leadership in developing an innovative applied trumpet studio
Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain trumpet students
Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum in applied trumpet studies, high brass techniques, and a secondary area as identified above
Demonstrated evidence of exemplary trumpet performance ability in classical and jazz/commercial styles
Demonstrated peer-reviewed research or creative activity
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to participation in professional organizations and mentoring students through such organizations
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
