Gateway to Learning serves adults with developmental disabilities and operates in the Lincoln Square community of Chicago. We are seeking an Executive Director to oversee the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization, while prioritizing the strong Gateway community and service culture that our participants rely on. Other key duties include overseeing fundraising and marketing, and leading community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Education, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (QIDP is preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience dealing with Illinois DHS (thorough knowledge and understanding preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior nonprofit management
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
Strong public speaking ability
Provide direction and leadership toward the achievement of GTL’s annual objectives and budget while leading a team to success with GTL’s purpose, mission, and strategy as guiding principles.
Drive new income opportunities by engaging and recruiting GTL sponsors, volunteers, and community members, and working closely with the Marketing and Development Director.
Accountable for ensuring the consistent quality of all GTL programming by working closely with the Program Director and staff leaders.
Develop and implement strategic business plans and problem solve, especially in response to government funding changes.
Build a dynamic office culture that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse team of employees and volunteers by engaging families and friends, working collaboratively with the program facilitation team, and engaging staff in the mission.
Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of all GTL staff including mentoring, feedback, and performance reviews.
Participate in the execution of GTL’s major fundraisers, and serve as the face of GTL in order to educate and motivate individual and corporate sponsors.
All other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
