The Development Manager will work directly with NCTR’s CEO to meet or exceed the organization’s revenue goals by securing funding from a variety of sources, including foundations, earned income and government sources. The Development Manager will research the market of interest-aligned funders and cultivate relationships with prospective funders. In addition, she/he will lead the management process of grants.
Collaborate with the CEO to design and execute an annual development strategy to ensure sufficient operating support and achieve fundraising goals
Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including but not limited to: stewarding funders and keeping them informed; tracking deadlines; writing and submitting letters of intent, proposals, and reports; pulling data for reporting purposes; and submitting thank you letters
Ensure accurate and up to date records of all development activities in Salesforce
Work with CEO to identify and research new potential foundations
Prepare briefings and recommend strategies to the CEO for making requests to funders and other interested partners
Forecast fundraising potential for annual budgeting process
Build strong relationships with, and support the development activities of, NCTR board members
Minimum of 3 years in grant writing, development, fundraising, or related work in the nonprofit field
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce compelling written materials
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills with a wide variety of audiences
Experience with CRM database preferred
Chicago, IL or Washington, D.C. preferred; will consider other locations for the right candidate
