Think about service
Does the customer come first with you? Whether it is a knowing nod to a regular customer or chatting up a new customer in a 12 jersey, do you go out of your way to make their day while offering fabulous beverages? Do they return day after day for that amazing experience?
Now, think about teamwork
Do you thrive in a team environment where the customers get the same experience whoever is at the bar? Do you derive satisfaction from sharing your knowledge with coworkers and generating a level of knowledge and enthusiasm about coffee that is contagious to everyone, including customers?
Finally, think about leadership
Do you maintain focus for your team when the pressure is on? Are able to remain positive, no matter how difficult the situation? Are you able to lead others to ensure drinks and service are exceptional?
Two of Seattle's best employers have come together, and they want you to join the team! Starbucks and UW Dining have partnered to open a store in the UW's Husky Union Building (HUB) and we are looking for a customer-focused barista lead to provide leadership while making beverages and serving food to the University community in this inaugural location. Starbucks prides itself on providing each customer with such a welcoming experience that they want customers to think of their stores as the third place where customers choose to spend time in their busy days. That means the beverages are top notch, the surroundings are clean and welcoming, and the service is prompt and exceeds what customers expect, every single time.
Sounds pretty interesting, doesn't it? Well, it gets better! You get the great benefits of working for UW (40 hour work week, medical insurance, paid vacation and sick leave to name a few) and the training and experience of working for Starbucks! There are a couple of requirements for this job. First, you must have one year of experience in high-volume food and beverage preparation and service, with experience directing the work of others in a retail environment. Second, you must obtain a Washington Food Worker's card within two weeks of employment. We are looking for people who have experience in the coffee industry who possess the interpersonal skills to lead an efficient customer-service driven establishment.
We are looking for a barista lead who can work Monday-Friday, 6:00 am 2:30 pm. The right person for this job must pass a criminal background check and reference verification. Membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) Union is also a must.
