University of Washington Medical Center's Pain Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a 100% (40 hours/week) Full-Time MEDICAL ASSISTANT. This position is primarily in support of the procedure room physicians. This support will include intake and discharge of procedure room patients, positioning of the patient for procedures, and assisting with the procedure itself. Procedures include, but are not limited to:
Epidural Steroid Injections
Radio Frequency Ablations
Other pain related procedures.
The majority of these procedures will take place in the fluoroscopy suite and wearing personal protection gear is required. Medical Assistants in the Pain Clinic also perform duties to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients, including preparing the patient and the environment for treatment, meeting the communication needs of patients and family, conducting basic diagnostic tests, providing patient care coordination, patient education and clerical/reception duties.
This position will support both the clinic and procedure room functions.
Manage patient flow to effectively support clinic and procedure rooms.
Other pain related procedures.
Work with insurance authorizations including medical prior authorizations
Assist in scheduling patients including pre and post appointments.
Intake and discharge procedure room patients.
Assist with medical procedures such as radiofrequency ablation, steroid injections, medical branch blocks, spinal chord stimulator trials.
Assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients.
Prepare the patient and the environment for treatment such as positioning the patient for procedures, sterile tray set up, helping patients in and out of procedure rooms.
Meet the communication needs of patients and family.
Conducting basic diagnostic tests.
Providing patient care coordination, patient education, and follow up with care.
Use EMR to document, check in, check out patients.
Prepare chart for patient visit including medical records required for visit and complete chart follow up after patient visit.
Support clerical/reception duties.
Other duties as assigned.
General supervision is provided by the manager or designee. Physicians, health care specialist and RN's provide immediate supervision of services performed by MA under provider's order for specific patients.

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board;
Legal Requirement: Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
