Under the direction of Director - Surgical, Maternal and Child Services, provides assistance with the guidance of the surgeon in tissue handling, suturing, and haemostatic techniques, while providing maximum exposure of the surgical site. Knowledgeable in the principles of surgical anatomy and physiology, and operative techniques and preferences of the surgeons.
EDUCATION: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent military hospital training.
CERTIFICATION, liCENSURE, BONDING: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) Certification or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) Certification.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years of advanced surgical experience.
Meets and/or maintains competencies appropriate to the department. Demonstrates commitment to patient satisfaction and exhibits exceptional verbal communication skills.
