Under the direction of the Director and Associate Director of Procurement and Business Services, the Managing Assistant Director exercises general management and supervision over one or more sections of the purchasing unit and staff; participates in the development and effectuation of office goals, policies and procedures which may involve development of university policy; manages the planning and implementation of technical and/or administrative tasks including contract preparation, control, monitoring, amendment and evaluation; and does related work as required. As authorized, the Managing Assistant Director exercises approval rights and responsibilities in the area of University contract administration and performs claims analysis and more complicated work related to the management of this area. This position requires travel.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in an institution of higher education or other field that is directly related to the position is required. Five or more years of experience in purchasing specific to academic or government procurement and working knowledge of computerized purchasing systems is preferred.
