Cincinnati Children's is seeking a Director to provide leadership and strategic direction for its Office for Clinical and Translational Research (OCTR). Nationally recognized as a top pediatric hospital and biomedical research center, Cincinnati Children's is a highly collaborative environment supported by a robust research infrastructure. The OCTR offers a number of services supporting clinical trials.
Reporting to the Vice President of the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, the Director oversees a diverse staff of ~40 clinical research professionals, including nurses and study coordinators, regulatory specialists, and contracts negotiators with the ultimate goal of supporting the organization’s robust clinical research program.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience at an academic research institution and demonstrated effectiveness as a leader. He/she will ensure the team is well-organized and coordinated, and continues to provide services at the highest quality and should have a proven track record in sound business practices related to the management of clinical and translational research. Working knowledge of and maintaining compliance with all relevant governmental, agency and institutional regulations and policies is crucial to the role. Candidates must have a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
A Bachelor of Health Care Administration or business-related field and at least five years of clinical research experience, and four years of supervisory experience is required. Preferred qualifications, a Bachelor of Health Care Administration or business-related field and at least 10 years of clinical research experience.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications
Highly developed interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of stakeholders, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to transparency and active engagement.
Promote customer service through the development and implementation of programs and quality standards.
Serves as an expert resource for clinical trial administrative processes and exhibits sound problem solving skills. Applies general knowledge of regulatory requirements (ICH, FDA, GCP, institutional and departmental) to clinical research operations.
Provides fiscal management oversight for OCTR services and budgets (i.e., fee for service, chargebacks).
Utilizes best practices and SOPs to conduct effective business practices with consistent quality.
Identifies and ensures IT processes/systems (e.g., Epic, ePAS) are maximized as related to clinical research.
Defines OCTR goals and objectives and develop metrics of achievement, with an interest in data-driven process improvement.
Works constructively and in collaboration with other divisions in Research Operations and participates in institutional initiatives to enhance overall support for research, including but not limited to Sponsored Programs, Research Compliance, the Schubert Research Clinic, and Commercialization and Technology Transfer offices.
Passion for quality and excellence and developing a high performance team.
Excellent managerial skills and demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, manage and train new staff and an ability to motivate and retain professional staff.
