The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 285 full-time faculty members, 515 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department's highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department's robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences currently has an outstanding opportunity for a RESEARCH STUDY ASSISTANT. Under the direction of the Director of the School Mental Health Assessment, Research, and Training (SMART) Center and Program Director, the Research Study Assistant assists with data collection and data management, participates in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis; interfaces with consumers, clinicians and students in school and community settings; and assists with other study-related tasks.
Conduct informed consent and research interviews with research participants of all ages; in person and via telephone or computer.
Participate in systematic reviews of health information technologies, specifically those designed to facilitate high-quality clinical service delivery.
Interview health information technology developers about their products.
Conduct qualitative content analysis as member of a qualitative coding team.
Maintain confidentiality of study information;
Transcribe and code audiotapes for use in qualitative studies;
Assist with data cleaning, entry, and management; data analysis and preparation of data for presentations.
Assist with tracking, purchasing of supplies, reimbursements.
Assist literature review, summary, and retrieval of scientific articles; scheduling and perform other study-related duties as required. Maintain EndNote library.
Two years of college-level course work in psychology, public health, education or social science or related field AND one year of appropriate experience
Experience working with school based research with community partners
Experience working with adolescents and families from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Experience conducting literature searches; familiarity with APA formatting.
Background in digital computer technologies.
Ability to effectively communicate in person and on the phone with study participants and community partners.
Knowledge of software applications including proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Access).
Experience with EndNote; SPSS; R and/ Qualtrics.
Experience supporting community trainings and working directly with community partners.
