UW Dining has the job for you! We are currently seeking an experienced Prep Cook who can pull an occasional espresso shot at our busy retail location, Orin's Place Caf, located in Paccar Hall, the home of UW's Business School. Did we say busy? Yes we did! Orin's place serves 1500 or more customers daily as UW's students, faculty and staff look to grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the occasional between class snack. Orin's Place offers a variety of pastries, breakfast sandwiches and hot cereal in the mornings, hot sandwiches to order and soups for lunch and dinner. Grab-and-Go items are available for those who are late to class. And of course, espresso drinks are always available for those suffering caffeine deficiencies.
What You Will Be Doing:
Preparing menu items.
Setting up and stocking the station according to established par levels.
Receiving customer orders, answering questions about ingredients, recipes and pricing.
Gathering, assembling, packaging and serving menu items to customer order.
May prepare specialty beverages to customer order.
Operating a point of sale systems, keying in sales, taking payments and making change; account for receipts at the end of the work shift; follow up with supervisor on cash-handling discrepancies.
Continuously cleaning and maintaining order of workstation and prep areas.
Monitoring and handling prepared foods for compliance with Washington State health code regulations, including taking and recording food temperatures before the food leaves the production area.
You need to be organized in your work and speedy in your knife skills. Customer service is our top priority and should be yours too. You need to be able to work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To qualify for the job, you must obtain your Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of being hired, and you will need to renew it when necessary in the future.
