Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.(sm)The UnitedHealth Group Office of the Chief Scientific Officer (OCSO) is developing an exciting new technology platform that will enable health plans, clinical practices, and all who provide patient care better leverage of patient health data to drive better treatment decision support, higher clinical quality, a reduction in treatment variation, fewer gaps in care, and improved affordability. This platform bridges the traditional interaction divide between Providers and Payers, and will transform the ways in which each person's health care is provided and experienced - at a scale that makes a difference.The OCSO seeks a Senior Quality and Testing Leader to direct all aspects of end-to-end quality on this data-dependent, provider-facing, consumer-facing platform. The platform will source core data from UHG operations such as Provider, Network, Member, Claims, and partner data such as Labs and Clinical data from providers. Early users of the platform include Providers and UHC Clinical resources, and that user base extends to direct consumer access via channel partners in 2019. This Senior Quality and Testing Leader will be a key part of the OCSO leadership team with accountability for end-to-end platform Quality Assurance and all associated test execution and coordination. Build and manage a direct team - and collaborate with and direct the related components of partner teams to establish and execute the mechanics of all aspects of Quality Assurance within this large, visible, and industry-changing OCSO initiative. Primary Responsibilities:Own the Program Quality StrategyDirectly drive the strategy, approach, and execution of Quality Assurance work to ensure End-to-End Integration Code Quality and alignment to Program requirements within each Program Increment releaseBuild and manage a team of Quality Assurance professionals located at multiple locations. Ensure clear communication, allocation of accountabilities, meaningful employee development, and employee engagementServe as a Quality and Testing subject matter expert with the OCSO and as a senior member of the OCSO leadership team. Represent the testing and quality point of view for and within the OCSODrive quality upstream in the product, project and application lifecycles - while also using downstream process to measure success and indicate areas that need further improvementConsult to and influence adjacent teams on matters of test execution and on matters of overall system quality - including Design & Build, Technical Operations, User Deployment and Support, and Operational Data Quality teams as appropriateOwn the strategy of how Testing and Quality should work within the OCSO program methodology and tools - the Feature Analysis and Solution process, Agile Delivery teams, and the use of CA Agile Central and related toolsDefine and drive best practice approaches such as testing automation, defect-tracking and resolution, coverage-tracking, completion tracking, risk-based testing approaches, and requirement-defect traceability. Own the management thereofInfluence and support related best practices of adjacent teams, e.g. modern test-driven development approaches, environment management, and code-migration approaches. Collaborate with Product, Development, Operations, and other Technical teams on modern application lifecycle concepts like DevOps, CI/CD, TDD, ATDD - and future new tech and approaches - to continuously strive to build quality into the end-to-end processCoordinate and oversee the overall OCSO Testing portfolio, including activities that are embedded in delivery teams that support the Programs (e.g. Data Solutions, Optum Global Solutions) and indirect testing performed by other teams (e.g. Performance Testing)Collaborate with and support our business partners on their testing (e.g. support UHC Clinical Business Enablement teams on their UAT and Production Testing)Collaborate with and support our channel partners on their testing (e.g. technical teams leveraging Program APIs)Define requirements for and own the Program test environments; collaborate with IHR Infrastructure teams supporting those environments and associated process. Coordinate workflow into and out of test environments; collaborate with technical teams creating and supporting components to control moving of components through environmentsEstablish and own a Test Data Management approachLeverage your excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate status, issues, and risks; translate IT terminology into common business language to ensure understanding by all stakeholdersBring people together to meet common goals using facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills to manage execution across organizational lines, using influence without authority
Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree in an applicable area of expertise10 or more years of experience in IT Solution Delivery Program or Departmental leadership roles accountable for Quality Assurance and/or Testing functions including Quality Assurance Strategy, Test Planning, TestScript Creation, and Test ExecutionExperience directing geographically-diverse teams including employee, offshore, internal-partner, and contractor resourcesDeep expertise in Test Case Management, Defect Management, Test Coverage ManagementDeep expertise in Test Data Management approaches and tools Deep expertise in Test Automation concepts and tools, e.g. Cucumber, Selenium, and custom-built tools Deep expertise in a broad array of Test types and approaches, including but limited to: integration testing, system testing, UAT, non-functional testing, regression testing, A/B testing, risk-based testing Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and the use of enterprise change, release, and deployment management processes Experience on Enterprise Data Warehouse or cross-entity B2B data integration 3 or more years of experience as the Quality Lead within programs executing with an Agile Methodology 5 or more years of experience in Healthcare Referenceable experience communicating program issues or operational impacts to senior leaders - put into understandable terms for key stakeholders and customersPreferred Qualifications: Experience with clinical applications or data - such as EMR, HIE, or similar provider or clinical systemsExperience with core payer systems or data - such as claims, eligibility, or member-support systemsExperience with Enterprise Data Governance and Data Quality initiativesExperience with UHG Quality Assurance processesExperience with UHG IT methodologies, enterprise infrastructure and technologies Careers at UnitedHealth Group.
