Advertised Summary Job Description: The Research Project Manager manages research related activities within scientific program areas, with particular focus on (1) support for grant/contract pre-award activities; (2) management and coordination of ongoing research projects taking place in IGM's functional laboratories (including providing oversight and direction for new or in-development industry contracts); and (3) tracking activities and status of laboratory personnel. The Research Project Manager may be assigned a portfolio of PIs and/or lab groups to support. Reports directly to the Sr. Research Project Manager, and ultimately to the Department Administrator.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates must a have minimum of two years of experience managing scientific programs in an academic research lab.
The ideal candidate must possess sound judgment with a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation. Must possess strong time management skills to meet critical deadlines with excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. A high level of attention to detail is required. Must possess the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information with excellent judgment and discretion required. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work with diplomacy and efficiency in a high demand environment essential.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with management of government grants and industry contracts is preferred.
