The role holder is responsible for assisting the business in identifying, assessing and mitigating risk across the region. Employees in this role will be a specialist in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and have a track record of supporting organizations in the management of risk. They should have experience of working within the region. They should be able to work with and influence senior executives as a trusted advisor. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential.
What you’ll be doing
To support the Regional President and Country Managers in the management of risk, specifically providing advice around the identification, evaluation and management of risk around key areas such as:
Advise and support the business in the creation and maintenance of pan-BT risk registers in each country within the region and at the region level
Support the escalation of risks from country and region registers.
Advise Regional Presidents and Country Managers to highlight key risks, including geo-political risk, in region. The Regional Risk Advisers will also sit on and support Regional Governance Committees (RGCs) as they incorporate risk management in line with the Board’s and Executive Committee’s expectations.
Provide risk management support for key initiatives and programmes in the region.
To identify providers of assurance over the quality of risk management within the region
Through risk reviews and through working with those other assurance providers, to provide assurance to the Regional President over the reporting of risks within country/cluster and regional registers.
To promote risk management understanding and awareness across the region, in order to drive ongoing risk maturity (e.g. through the delivery of risk training)
To facilitate the sharing of good practice risk management across operations in the region
To engage with colleagues in other regions and central teams in order to share good practice, and to facilitate collaboration where appropriate
To report to the Regional leadership team and Regional Governance Committees as to the effectiveness by which risk management is being conducted across the region
To coordinate improvements in the maturity of risk management across the LoB
To help safeguard BT and ensure corporate objectives are delivered as planned.
Able to influence at MD level, where necessary imparting requirements objectively with evidence to meet wider risk objectives.
Authority to appropriately challenge the consideration and quantification of risk across BT in the region
Professionally qualified in risk management (e.g. IRM Diploma) - desirable.
Skills / Experience:
Detailed practical knowledge of all aspects of risk management
Experience in a risk management role covering multiple locations
Business commercial awareness and experience with the ability to influence and make decisions
Clear communicator, strong presentation and negotiation skills.
Ability to lead and work in teams.
Track record (with BT or external) of success in developing risk management capabilities in large-scale complex organizations.
Decision maker, decisions are commercially driven with business risk assessed.
Identifies and implements solutions that address business objectives.
High level of authority, seeking appropriate Board and Line of Business sign-off where necessary.
Working fluency in one or more relevant languages in the region (Spanish and/or Portuguese) is not strictly required, but would be considered an asset
