POLICY AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab-North America (J-PAL NA), to contribute to the design and execution of J-PAL NA's policy outreach work and lead strategic communications for mission-driven research and policy organization. Primary tasks will involve management, policy outreach, and policy synthesis. Will contribute to strategic leadership and supervise junior staff; develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners in government and nonprofit, philanthropy, and private sectors; build expertise in rigorous evidence; create briefs, publications, and presentations to communicate research; organize and attend events; develop and execute on long-term communications strategy; help staff become more effective communicators; generate and support high-level speaking opportunities for leadership and affiliated researchers; highlight the work of staff to promote the use of evidence in informing policy decisions; act as primary contact for press/media inquiries; build relationships with media outlets; and draft press releases, op-eds, etc., to share research and promote the use of rigorous research to inform policy.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: master's degree in economics, public policy, public administration, social sciences research, or related field that includes coursework in quantitative methods and impact evaluation; at least four years' relevant work experience; demonstrated interest in social policy; experience managing external communications and ability to keep an organization's communications responsive and on message; ability to form new relationships with key stakeholder groups; advanced oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences; meticulous attention to detail; ability to think strategically, handle several different projects/tasks and juggle multiple relationships simultaneously, complete assigned tasks, and meet deadlines; self-motivation; and demonstrated success working collaboratively and independently.
