The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Natural History Resources Division (NHRD), is seeking a Park Ranger Supervisor. Throughout the comprehensive park system, the Park Ranger Supervisor manages Senior Park Rangers, Park Ranger I's, and year round seasonal Park Ranger Staff with responsibility for public safety, customer service, natural resource management, community outreach, park operation support, wildlife management, and special event support. The supervisor is also responsible for oversite and management of over one-million dollar operations budget, purchasing, and resource allocation to support work program, oversee special use and agriculture contracts requiring bids, annual payments, and compliance of agreements; manages a variety of natural resources and wildlife efforts including response of injured animals on park land, nuisance and feral issues, managed deer hunts, goose addling and round-ups, meadow creations, and County-wide non native invasive plant removal; oversees educational outreach efforts with development of programs, projects, marketing, and needed resources, coordinate and develop community and volunteer outreach; establish safety and enforcement protocol for issuance of parking an adult civil citations and dress code; coordinate court dates with District Court; coordinate complex special event and park operations support throughout the County; and responsible for determining staff schedules seven days a week with varied work schedule to serve the needs of the department.
This position will represent the Department in many capacities both internally and externally with other government agencies and non-profit groups with the goal to serve the broader Department's mission through partnerships and improve overall services to the residents of the county. Having a broad knowledge base, time management and delegation of skills, strong leadership, and exceptional communication skills are essential for this job. In addition, having a passion for public service, natural resource protection, environmental education, community engagement, and ways to improve overall efficiency and delivery of services is required.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $59,434 - $101,900 annual.
1. Bachelor's degree in Park Administration, Park Management, Recreation, Natural Science or related field; and
2. Four years of progressively responsible administrative or management experience, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity; or
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Must pass Commission medical examination.
