Mass Home Care, the trade association for the 29 Aging Services Access Points (ASAP) and Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) in Massachusetts is seeking a dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization.
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration and strategic plan of Mass Home Care as well as management and day-to-day operations, and is responsible to the board of directors. Together, the board and Executive Director assure the organization’s vision, mission and advocacy and are accountable to the membership, their communities and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be adept in leading through vision and values. S/he must possess knowledge of the aging network, the ability to negotiate, a clear understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and the ability to develop cohesive relationships to further the mission of the organization and the interests of its members.
Preferred skills will include advocacy and program development, analytical and financial acumen and excellent communication skills.
This position will work collaboratively with the Association’s legislative agent and supervise the Director of Policy and Advocacy.
Support operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members
Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with Board
Schedule all meetings, produce and disseminate minutes from all meetings
With President, and other members as appropriate, develop agenda of Board and Committee meetings
With Board, develop strategic goals for organization
Develop long-term and short-term operational goals and objectives
Develop new initiatives based on needs of the home/community, LTSS and aging networks
Develop education and training opportunities for members and stakeholders
For new agency executive directors, provide introduction and orientation to the aging/LTSS network and Mass Home Care
Supervise association staff
Ensure budget is aligned with organization’s mission
Develop draft annual budget, for Board approval
Manage organization’s financial resources within budget guidelines
Secure grant funding as appropriate
Oversee annual audit
Community and Public Relations
Assure organization and its mission are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders, partners and other state/national associations
Serve as liaison with outside affiliated groups and organizations
Work with Board to develop legislative agenda
With Director of Policy and Advocacy, implement legislative agenda
Lead agency’s advocacy efforts on legislation, policy and administrative/regulatory changes
Work with board on development of public policy
Oversee implementation of public policy in conjunction with the Director of Policy and Advocacy
Master’s degree in related field from an accredited college preferred; minimum 5 years’ experience in elder services, network management, advocacy. Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills required.
