The Coordinator for Student Organization Development is responsible for advising and supporting over 350 Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), including social fraternities and sororities, at Bowling Green State University. The Coordinator will be expected to plan, implement, and assess programs and services for students and advisors to advance organizational success, develop leadership competencies, and enhance personal growth. Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist with administering the Student Organization Development program including, but not limited to, facilitating the recognition, annual training, travel registration, and event approval processes; coordinating data collection reflecting student involvement and key measures of operations; and conducting regular meetings with student leaders, organization advisors, and key external constituents.
Assist with providing direction and support to recognized social fraternities and sororities through a comprehensive chapter support initiative that focuses on academic excellence, civic engagement, leadership, and positive relationships.
Directly advise assigned governing Greek councils, boards, and/or teams through mentoring relationships with student officers, assisting student leaders to develop and monitor budgets, as well as planning and executing programs and events.
Directly supervise and evaluate assigned graduate interns and/or student employees/interns.
Coordinate planning and implementation of leadership and educational programs for RSO’s and RSO Officers surrounding today’s college culture with an emphasis on harm reduction related to alcohol and other drugs, hazing, sexual violence, as well as harassment and bias incidents.
Support broader initiatives within the Office of the Dean of Students including, but not limted to, Campus Fest, Homecoming, Falcon Family Weekend, and Applauding Excellence Ceremony.
Participate and represent the University, Division, and Department on committees and at official functions.
Provide assistance and support to the Associate and Assistant Deans and complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of advising social fraternities and sororities.
Demonstrated knowledge of working with diverse populations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
The ability to work frequent night and weekend hours.
Master's Degree required in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or a related field; Conferred degree in hand by start date.
6-12 months of experience, including time spent as a graduate assistant, advising student organizations, including social fraternities or sororities
6-12 months of experience, including time spent as a graduate assistant, supervising staff
6-12 months of experience developing/balancing a budget
6-12 months of experience developing and executing harm reduction programming models
6-12 months of experience facilitating processes to review and audit events executed by student organizations
6-12 months of experience with assessment
6-12 month of experience with OrgSync, Collegiate Link, or other comparable software platform(s)
