The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), a leading advocate for hospitals as well as the communities and patients they serve, has retained Witt/Kieffer to aid in the recruitment of the Vice President, Federal Relations in their Washington, D.C. office.
Established in 1925 and headquartered in Rensselaer (Albany), New York, HANYS both leads and aligns with other healthcare organizations, consumer and other advocacy groups, to advance solutions to improve the health of New York State communities.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President is responsible for the formulation and execution of the HANYS federal legislative advocacy agenda while supporting the development and execution of the federal regulatory agenda. The Vice President will create opportunities and encourage members to take advantage of opportunities for advocacy with federal officials on key priority issues. He/she will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with U.S. House and Senate health committees’ staff, HHS/CMS staff and the White House. A key responsibility will be working closely with New York State Congressional Delegation members, Chiefs of Staff, and Health staff including direct lobbying and organization of HANYS member visits, etc. He/she will be the go to person on federal issues for the members of HANYS.
The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree in health care, business, and/or public policy with a minimum of ten years experience in and around organizations working on federal issues and the legislative process. Demonstrated knowledge in healthcare policy issues impacting hospitals, health systems, nursing homes and home care agencies is required.
