The Deputy Compliance Officer (DCO) will assist the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCO) with the strategic and tactical development, implementation and maintenance of the UC Davis Health System (UCDHS's) Compliance Program which includes the areas of billing and coding compliance, privacy, clinical research billing compliance, audit and investigations. The DCO will assist in providing oversight for all ongoing activities related to the Compliance Program administration including: maintenance of policies and procedures, completion of the Annual Compliance Work Plan, and the performance of all auditing and monitoring activities. The DCO acts on behalf of the CCO in the CCO's absence.REQUIRED- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in compliance or in a health care setting, or related experiences.- Bachelor's Degree; Jurist Doctor, Master's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Public Health or equivalent training/experience.- Certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC) or ability to achieve within 1 year of employment- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of operational & regulatory expertise in compliance, privacy and research administration.- Experience managing staff.- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communications skills to promote, support, and introduce regulatory systems and processes across a broad spectrum of departments.- Highly proficient written skills.- Working knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations that govern health care including CMS, OIG advisories, False Claims Act, FDA, DEA and Conflict of Interest regulations.- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook- Experience managing a high work volume with changing priorities, frequent interruptions and in stressful situations and work cooperatively with a positive attitude.- Extensive analytical reasoning with the ability to navigate complex problems and provide resolution to Senior LeadershipPREFERRED- Professional certification as a Certified Professional Coder - Extensive experience developing Compliance Work Plans and engaging in other auditing and monitoring activities including: establishing audit protocols, sampling techniques, and report writing- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies that include planning, prioritizing, systemic performance assessment, implementation and improvement- Experience with hospital technical data systems: EPIC, BRIDGE, Invision, OnCoreSPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
