The Department of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Modern European History (R96971) at the rank of assistant professor, with a start date of August 16, 2018. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teach World Civilization survey courses, upper level, and graduate courses; Supervise MA theses; Serve on University, College, and Department committees; Conduct research leading to publication by internationally and nationally recognized presses and journals in the candidate’s area of specialization; Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to teach and provide expertise in the history of Modern Europe; Ability and willingness to teach US history survey courses according to the department's needs; Experience with or willingness to participate in online teaching and learning; Ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and through electronic media; Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds;
Ability to advise students; Ability to supervise interns; Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues as a team player; Willingness to pursue professional development and external committee service; Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and management skills.
Required Education and/or Experience: Ph.D. in history or related field. College level teaching experience required including experience with or willingness to participate in online teaching and learning.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Sub-specialty in urban history. Sub-specialty in the history of race, ethnicity, and gender, and/or the history of migrations.
