<p>Summary of Position:<br />Zhang lab is looking for a highly motivated lab manager. The primary responsibilities include:</p><p>1) conducting experiments in plant genome editing and synthetic biology fields under the direction of the PI<br />2) managing the lab activities on daily basis<br />3) supervising and training undergraduate students and junior lab members working in the lab<br />4) assisting in data collection, analysis and interpretation for grant and manuscript preparation<br /><br />Essential and Other Functions:<br /><br />50% - Designing and conducting research based on project planning<br />Assisting the PI in managing research project by following and tracking timelines; conducting lab research using molecular biology, biochemical and cell biology techniques including plasmid construction, plant tissue culture, PCR and next generation sequencing;<br /><br />30% - Lab management<br />Monitoring and ordering lab consumables, equipment and stocks; growing and maintaining plant material for plant transformation; keep lab well organized and in compliance with university and government regulations; assisting and coordinating research activities within the lab and with collaborators.<br /><br />15% - Supervising and training undergraduate and junior lab members<br />Hiring and supervising undergraduate assistants; training junior technician<br /><br />5% - Asissting in data collection, analysis and interpretation<br />Recording research data timely and accurately; analyzing the data and preparing the results for grant applications, reports and publications.</p>
<div><strong>Essential Qualifications: </strong></div><div>MS in Plant Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related life science disciplines and 1 or more years of research training.<br /> </div><div><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></div><div>More than 5-year experience in molecular biology, plant tissue culture and plant genome engineering experience.</div><div>More than 2-year experience in lab management.</div><div>Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a collaborative environment.</div><div>Experience with engineered nucleases such as TALENs or Cas9.</div><div>More than 2-year experience in plant transformation, plasmid construction and next generation sequencing.</div>
