The Spencer Educational Foundation (SEF), is the premier organization awarding scholarships and grants in risk management and insurance, facilitating internship opportunities as well as providing a Risk-Manager-in-Residence program to universities. Our mission is to fund the education of tomorrow’s risk management and insurance industry leaders. Founded in 1979 after Robert S. Spencer, it has awarded 831 scholarships totaling approximately $5.6 million, and $3.25 million in grants to universities and professional institutions for educations programs and conferences.

Spencer Educational Foundation (SEF) has a new internship opportunity and seeks a student currently enrolled at the under graduate or graduate level for this temporary position which will operate between May and August.
We seek a student interested in assisting SEF in gaining exposure and donations by mining its databases, following up with alumni and using technology to broaden SEF’s donor pool. You are a person who enjoys speaking with people, building relationships and driving a worthy cause. You understand the importance of fundraising and development and seek an opportunity to support an initiative such as this.
The Development Intern provides administrative, development and fundraising support to Spencer’s Director of Development. Supports the Director of Development with fundraising and outreach initiatives; ensures database integrity and accuracy. Interfaces with alumni, current and potential donors through telephone and social media outreach. Assists the Development Department in following up on potential leads and interest.
Conducts research on potential donors, alumni, strategic partners, markets and industries.
Assists in managing website and social media activities.
Writes articles and profiles for the Foundation’s newsletter and website
Assists in entering data into database (Donor Perfect).
Assists in drafting correspondence and donor appeals.
Helps maintain donor files and other development materials.
Assists with mailings and special projects as needed.
