The University of Washington, School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for up to three Full-Time Lecturers. These are non-tenure track, multi-year contract positions effective September 15, 2017. We seek talented and innovative practitioner-educators who bring depth in culturally responsive practice and teaching at the foundation level in at least one method of practice (individual, family, group, organization, community, policy) and an area of specialty expertise, such as populations experiencing trauma, addictions or serious mental illness; immigrant/transnational families and communities; intergenerational child and family issues; or life course research in multigenerational practice/gerontology.

We are looking for productive and creative colleagues who bring fresh perspectives to the integration of theory and evidence into practice and the capacity to support the integration of class and field curricula. A Full-time Lecturer at the UW SSW will be a faculty member with a focus on teaching and associated administrative/service activities such as curriculum leadership, student advising, mentorship, and faculty governance. Full-time Lecturers will teach six courses per academic year (a total of 18-20 credits spread over 3 quarters) across the curriculum at the BASW, Foundation MSW and MSW Concentration levels, in both our full-time and part-time programs. Lecturers are expected to provide leadership for collaborative curriculum development, including the mentorship of developing instructors.
Full-time Lecturers are Instructional Faculty at the University of Washington and are essential and valued colleagues in the School of Social Work's educational programs. Respected for their extensive, up-to-date practice and policy experience as well as their deep knowledge of fields of practice and populations served they play pivotal roles and are integrated with tenure-track and field faculty in the teaching-oriented work of the School. Full-time lecturers are voting members of the UW faculty and hold significant leadership positions at the School of Social Work and across the University of Washington campus. They can be promoted to Senior and Principal ranks. As members of a world-class faculty, they also contribute to scholarship through research, publishing and conference presentations.
All candidates must have an MSW and a minimum of five years of full-time post-MSW practice experience in any area of social work. A PhD or DSW is optional, but the skills typically acquired through doctoral study that center on the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of practice are required. All candidates must also have evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level. Excellent candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to and evidence of: intellectual leadership; social justice work within diverse communities; integration of research, theory and practice in their substantive area; and effective collegial relationships in complex organizations. Salary and Contract:
Salary for this nine-month position is competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Lecturers hired through this announcement will be eligible for promotion and multi-year (3-5 year) contracts, renewable upon performance.
