The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness and skill building. The Archery specialist is responsible for the planning and leading of the archery program and responsible for the inventory and storage of archery supplies. The Archery Specialist will live on camp and serve as a cabin counselor for campers.
The summer camp season includes 1 Specialist week beginning June 26, 2017, 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 6 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday morning to Friday evening each week. Specific dates camp is open are July 9 -August 18, 2017. Additional weekend coverage will be required for 3 additional weekends during the summer. Additional weekend coverage will be required for Alumni Weekend plus 1 additional weekend.
The Archery Specialist will remain on camp until August 20, 2017 to assist Camp Director and staff in the cleaning and closing of the camp facility.
III. Specific Responsibilities and Functions
Develop and implement meaningful programming geared to all ages, interests, and abilities.
Provide weekly plans based on 4-H Model of skills mastery to supervisor.
Supervise campers at archery range in a safe manner according to the Department of Health and American Camp Association Safety Standards.
Keep inventory and responsible for storage of archery supplies
Oversee other staff members helping at the archery range.
Serve as a positive role model in language, appearance, and behavior
Participate and provide leadership in all camp programs
Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles.
Other duties may be assigned as required
18 years of age or older
Possess training, certification and experience in archery
First Aid Responding to Emergencies and/or CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred
Experience working with children
Ability to supervise and organize youth and adults
Ability to communicate effectively with Camp Director, entire camp staff, campers and camp families
Incorporates Team Work and Flexibility into their daily work style
Ability to plan and lead programs
